Panic Attacks - What causes a panic attack?

Panic attacks are a genuine health issue

Panic and anxiety attacks were once thought of as simply being nervous or highly-strung, but they're now acknowledged as a real health problem.

Panic disorder can only be diagnosed as a medical condition once the following have been ruled out:

Eating a poor diet deficient in the following vitamins and minerals can result in panic or anxiety: calcium, magnesium, potassium, niacin or vitamin B12.

Medical conditions including hyperventilation syndrome, hypoglycemia, hyperthyroidism, inner ear disturbances and PMT

Many panic and anxiety attacks aren't a result of any of the above but are simply caused by an overblown reaction to a stressful situation due to a combination of:

q

chemical imbalances in the brain

q

genetics

q

stressful life events

People who suffer from panic disorders are inclined to use negative 'self-talk' which worsens their tendency to worry. Hypnotherapy teaches you how to overcome this.

A panic attack can be treated using hypnotherapy, taking medication prescribed by your doctor, or there are some things that you can do yourself to decrease it's intensity.
