The dangers of Champix

Champix is marketed in the U.S. under the name Chantix. The official Chantix website states that "Some patients have reported changes in behavior, agitation, depressed mood, suicidal thoughts or actions when attempting to quit smoking while taking Chantix or after stopping Chantix."

It also warns that if you have a history of depression or other mental health problems your symptoms may worsen while taking Champix.

In 2008, the FDA issued a warning concering "reports of suicidal thoughts and aggressive and erratic behaviour in patients who have taken Champix." The number of severe negative reactions associated with Champix use was greater than all of the 10 top selling brand name drugs together.

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has banned pilots from using Champix because of fears of blackouts. Not too good when you're flying a plane....... but can be equally worrying for people driving cars or operating machinery!
