Articles and self-help - What’s your personality type?

Type A and B Personality Check List

Everyone is unique.  No two people have exactly the same personality......  But it can be helpful to take a look at your own personality traits. Being more self-aware can be a good thing because your personality can have an enormous effect on your health, your happiness and how ‘successful’ you are in life.  There's no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ personality type.

Studies show that the more Type A traits you have, then the more likely you are to be prone to stress.  Stress, in turn, can increase your susceptibility to certain health problems such as heart disease, cancer, diabetes and so on.

On the other hand, if you have a personality with mostly Type B traits, you may find it difficult to motivate yourself to achieve your potential. You might also suffer from weight issues which again can lead to serious health problems.  The good news is that whatever your personality type it is possible to change your behaviour to achieve a much better balance.

  • Did you know that Type A people are three times more risk from heart attacks than Type B?

  • Do half or more of Type A characteristics apply to you? If so you should seriously consider making changes in order to reduce your stress levels.

  • As few as three or four Type A personality traits would indicate some underlying stress.

You can modify your behaviour by choosing a trait and deliberately copying the opposite trait. For example if you always walk quickly, practise going at a more leisurely pace until it feels natural.  Or if everyone expects you to be late, make a point of being punctual.

One by one, any traits that are causing you stress or holding you back can gradually be altered so that you can to lead a happier, healthier, more fulfilling life. And who wouldn’t want that?
